First of all thanks to Renu Aunty for such a lovely comment on my previous blog. Also I am thankfull to all of those (esp Gunjan Bua,Gaurav Chachu, Shubhy bua, Gargi Bua, Raghav chachu, pallavi aunty & all grandparents )who read my blog patiently and admired it silently( because they have not posted any comments na!!!! he he he he ).
In this blog, I shall tell you about my Mundan & Annaprashan.
In the first week of feb, grandparents arrived at Bhubneshwar with Gunjan Bua. We all were very happy. Dadaji had some official work so i used to spent most of the time with Dadiji & Buaji(off course mom was always there with us).
It was planned that on 5th Mar 10 ( friday), we will start our journey in the evening to Puri. We will stay one and half day and shall come back on 7th March. Agenda of this trip was my likely mundan & annaprashan( subject to my wish for the same he hehe he :) ) . Suddenly came a twist in the plan when dad had to go to mumbai(5th March ) on some urgent work ( It always happen with dad's plan ...whatever is planned never materialises, whatever happens would have been never planned!!!!) .
Dad left for mumbai and we left for puri restricting our agenda just to visit puri ( mundan & annaprashan were called off). Dad had this guilt that whole plan was called off because of his urgent trip. He managed the work on saturday and some how convinced his top boss to leave mumbai on sunday ( He was expected to continue the mumbai stay up to tuesday!!!). Thanks to his top bosses he left mumbai by 10 am for bhubneshwar on sunday (7th March).
Sunrise at Puri
We enjoyed the puri beached on saturday. On the same day, we decided to go to Jagganath Temple. Normally younger childrens upto age 5 are not allowed near Lord Jaggananth. But half an hour before lord's bath, small childrens are also allowed. Luckly we reached at the same time so I was considered lucky that I was allowed to go near to Lord.
Dadiji carried me to the innermost circle of temple which was dark and crowded. Mom, who has crowd phobia also accompanied me. Suddenly she got restless possibly because of in- sufficient ventilation. We came out and grandparents were relieved to find out that mom went normal as soon she brethed fresh air. In spite of her phobia she continued to proceed towards crowded place because of me. Thats what I call a mother instinct which enables a mother to perform impossible task for her children. She faced the crowd upto the tolerable limit rather more than the limit. I salute her for her courage and her maternal instinct. Mom, I luv you.......
When we were packing our bags for return trip on sunday, we came to know that dad was returning from mumbai on sunday. Grandparents took a chance and asked Pundit for the possibility of mundan and annaprashan on sunday evening. They thought that if half a day could be extended and dad can make it to Puri on time, mundan & annaprashan can be possible in this visit. Though, there were lot of variables like flight delay, traffic etc but we took the chance and scheduled the ceremony at 4 pm on sunday (7th March).
Dad flight landed at bhubneshwar airport at 1:30 pm on 7th March. He came back to home, took his car and was on road to puri at 2:30 pm. Dad had a dream car chase where he drove upto 100 kmph speed on that trip. ( He would have been denied to accelerate upto that speed if dadaiji or mom was around he he he ). Finally his car entered puri at 3: 30 pm. One hour is a good benchmark from Bhubneshwar to Puri for an ameture driver like him.
At 4:15 pm my mundan started. Initally I was perturbed with the blade but mom took me into her lap. I was pacified with gentle touch. Gunjan Bua ji & mom began to sing prayers (Gayatri Mantra ). My attention was diverted by digicam (which was operated by dad) and very soon I got busy listening to prayers. Anticipating my diverted attention ,barber started his work very diliigently. A Video is attached for you to catch the glimse of that ocassion.
Here are two pics which clearly show the difference

Me prior to Mundan
Me after mundan
After mundan at Jagannath dham, we went inside the Jagannath temple. This time dad also accompanied us. We had special pooja and were given "annaprasad". People say that Lord Vishnu eats at Jagganath Dham (Puri) so annaprasad has its own significance. Special "Kheer" made of milk (Lord Jaggannath's Prasad) was the first food tasted by me under my annaprashan sanskara. According to elder people , all together there are 16 sanskaras in the life of person which starts from Zygotic conditions to demise. 7th & 8th are annaprashana & mundan respectively. Next sanskara due for me is Karnavedha.(piercing of ears)
All of us were pleased that finally we could accomplish these milestones (which seems to be impossible in this visit). Dadaiji & Dadiji were very pleased. Gunjan Bua also enjoyed the whole trip thoroughly right from puri beaches to her gift on my mundan ( I am also including all the quality time with me offcourse!!!!).
We stayed there for one more night (Sunday night -7th Feb 10) at puri. We started for bhubneshwar next morning (8th Feb). This time, we all returned back in our car whose driver was well known to us (my dad offcourse!!!!! he he he).
We arrived bhubneshwar at 8 am. Dadaji and Dad went to their respective offices. I played with dadiji and buaji. I was made jill-e -ilahi and dance program were produced to make me smile. We really had so much of fun.
Next day Grandparents alongwith buaji boarded the train to New Delhi. We really enjoyed this trip. Looking forward to more visit like this.
